Construction of the Megaphone

Megaphones are used in concerts to transmit music thousands of feet, they can also be found in emergency broadcasting systems such as the infamous sound of the “tornado siren”.

I compare a megaphone to a speaker phone by testing the audio, analyzing the differences in sound quality, frequency an loudness, and then dissembling the megaphone piece by piece. I momentarily stop to test a song along the way to determine how each cone or bell affects the sound until we are at the megaphone’s core.

Turn on your mono(2) speaker setup and experience what makes a megaphone tick.
