New Soles on Old Red Leather Boots using Tires

My grandpa gave me a pair of brand new red leather boots for my work some months ago. I put them on with excitement and noticed I was getting shorter the further I walked. The 30 year old soles were breaking down each step I took.

A few months later my front passenger car tire was punctured on the interstate; a match made in heaven. I use a jig saw with a metal-cutting blade, Shoe Goo, and a dozen or so clamps to put a new sole on these boots.

Update: I have worn my boot for four months now with no signs of wear.
